Review of Ward 16 written by a patient
1st May 2017

I was impressed by - private room with its own bathroom. temperature and ambience excellent.Tthe bed was amazingly comfortable. All the staff were positive, helpful. kind and considerate. I was well informed pre-operation; less so afterwards. To improve things: the morning after the operation i was only offered cereal for breakfast. No explanation of why nothing else. I was hungry. I should have asked for more and did not. It should not have taken 7 hours to get me discharged from when the doctor said i could go home when the drain was taken out. Minor point: lack of TV remote was a minor negative. The fact that there was a TV - free to use - was a big plus. Get the pre-admission information leaflets sorted. I did not need information about a waiting area, about buying cards for phone and TV when these things did not apply.

Review of Ward 26 written by a patient

Absolutely wonderful ward with professional staff but more than this staff with heart who care for the whole person not just he illness. They care for you but are also understanding of your relatives. The only thing that lets the ward down and this is not the ward its self necessarily but the discharge medication coming from the pharmacy. Was discharged from room at 12pm relatives came to pick me up but had to sit in waiting lounge until discharge medication came at 6pm. This was very tiring and made me feel a bit unwell and very sleepy and my feet started to swell but obviously only a chair to sit in. I was not the only one that day for this to happen to and this apparently often happens so maybe something the trust can look at as a whole from pharmacy to ward!!!!!

Review of STOMA CARE NURSES written by a patient
28th April 2017

i have been using the care of the stoma nurses for quite a few years now and i can honestly say that the treatment and care have been invaluable. i have had quite a few problems over the last 8 years and all the stoma nurse team have helped me along the way with exceptional care, dignity and kindness.I would also like to give a mention to the receptionist on the stoma care dept. When you get to the dept she is there with a smile and eager to help.I can honestly say hand on heart that i dont know how i would have coped without them being there at times of need. The one thing i would like them to have is to have a larger sign to say where they are. Although this might get sorted out sooner rather than later as the have not so long moved to the new dept.

Review of Ward 11 (CH) written by a patient

From the Sugeons, through to house officers, nursing staff, hca domestic and catering staff. They all worked incredibly hard and effectively. I felt safe in their care, and observed other patients receiving excellent care too. They lease well with relatives and friends. No wants to be ill. In 11 you feel you are a part of the journey, not a body to be dealt with, because it's your job.

Review of Breast Care Unit written by a patient
21st April 2017

The care that I received from the Breast Care Unit Team has been excellent, from diagnosis, through pre and post operative care. I developed an infection after the mastectomy, so visited several times, but on every occasion have been treated with great care and empathy, by every member of staff. Through Consultations, pre assessment, numerous dressings, scans and follow up appointments, the staff have been brilliant. I was made to feel valued, cared for and this definitely contributed to my recovery. I thoroughly recommend this service and would like to thank everybody involved: you are making a significant and positive difference to people facing a difficult situation.

Review of Ward 27 written by a family member
19th April 2017

I am posting this on behalf of my son who has only just turned 16 (7/2/01). He was admitted 14/2 & 12/4 to have both lungs sealed and can I just say EVERY staff member on this ward where fantastic, whatever Ben or myself needed they carried out with a smiling, friendly face. They made Ben feel at total ease from the minute he was admitted. The cubicles are cleaned at least 3 times a day, beds changed everyday and lovely conversations with staff whilst they are doing it. Nothing is too much for the nurses, consultants, surgeons, domestics and catering staff they all are so calm and professional !! I was given a visitors room, this too was immaculate and comfortable, with a wardrobe for my clothes and a shower and clean towels. My son is a very laid back lad who i think wouldnt hesitate to go into hospital again, I think this important because a bad experience really makes people uneasy and this is definetley not what Ben had on ward 27. I cannot thank them enough. One thing i would look at changing, for the younger patient, is the menu, maybe the odd burger in a bun wouldnt go amiss, other then that perfection in all departments :)

Review of Ward 28 (C28 & CCMU) written by a patient
10th April 2017

I cannot thank the nurses or Doctor Hoye enough. The care and treatment I received was extraordinary. I am sure no one likes being in hospital but my life has been transformed by the complex angioplasty that I was given last Wednesday. The staff working in the NHS are under considerable pressure and they are not paid enough or treated with the respect they deserve. I hope I don't have to return to this ward for further treatment but if I do, I know I will be cared for by the best. Ward 28 has skill, care and compassion in abundance. They may be ordinary people, just like me, but they all do an extraordinary job. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - which by the way is working marvellously in comparison to last Monday !

Review of Ward 8 (CH) written by a patient
6th April 2017

Having had a stay from Monday to Wednesday I have to say the whole experience was brilliant. The staff were marvellous from student nurses right through. Sam, Kayleigh and Julie never stopped but were always got to you or explained the time delay which when you saw there was only one qualified staff member on one day Sam fully acceptable. I was never left uncomfortable and treated with dignity and respect by all, including the house keepers and other nurses. The food was superb and congrats must go to our catering team on the ward, it was a shame to leave before my evening meal. We had a great six bed room which I think made the time go by quickly and less painfully and the interaction with staff certainly helped this. Ward 8 during my stay was a credit to the NHS, staff flogged for 12hrs a day but always smiling and assisting when required. I may have to bring in my stash of Haribos for the staff as being sugar tested regularly certainly reminds you of the affect they have. I just can't thank staff enough, slightly nervous about having the op done but reassurance and being looked after they way we were I left in very good spirits. Thank you once again
